“Wolves.
When it comes to buildings made out of wood… they generally don’t have the best reputation.
So gleefully defying expectations by actually constructing one – an additional branch to their beloved Stokey original – is the Italian spot, Wolf.
Set in what would otherwise be an unassuming, wood slatted cabin in the Finsbury ‘piazza’ behind Liverpool Street station is Wolf II, comprising a small but mighty slick steel kitchen filled with chefs hustling up fresh pasta, a stylish miniature restaurant fitted into an abutting cabin, like a glamorous converted boxcar, and, dotted around in front of the unit, summery outdoor tables and chairs set under festoon-lit trees.
You can either take advantage of these perches or get your grub in a box to take away; either way, the menu’s the same, well-picked selection of moreish Italian comfort food, all overseen by a slick team including head chef Mattia Antonioni, previously at Polpo and The Ivy, and executive chef Ben Spalding, who’s graced The Ledbury, Aqua Shard, and John Salt to name but a few.”
